Summary
  • Clara Coulthard, born 1929 Lilla Creek Station, S. Aust. Coulthard speaks about her childhood with her parents until the age of 5. Following the death of her father, she was removed first to Oodnadatta United Aborigines Mission, S. Aust. and then sent to Colebrook Home at Quorn. She describes the living conditions at the Home. In 1943, Coulthard was moved to Colebrook Home in Eden Hills where she finished her schooling. After undertaking two years of teacher training, she taught at Nepabunna and Oodnadatta Missions. She talks about the difficulties in re-establishing relationships with her family due to the loss of her traditional culture and language. She also expresses her views on the policy of removal.
