Summary
  • One of a collection of colour prints showing the demolition of Chadstone High School
  • Chadstone High School commenced in 1962 with students being bussed to temporary accommodation at Wattle Park High School. The first portable buildings for the new school Ivanhoe Grove Chadstone, were erected on land jointly occupied with Chadstone Park Primary School and became available in February 1962. The school complex was completed in 1963 with Mr Hughes as Principal.
  • R. K. Senior was appointed Principal of the High School in February 1966. Further portable clasrooms were added to the school in 1967. In 1968 the school included 951 students. The Assembly Hall was opened on 19 March 1978 by the Hon. L.H.S. Thompson, minister of Education. Most of the school was demolished after it was closed in 1991, except the hall which has been rebuilt as the Phoenix Park Community Centre.
