Summary
McKinley was the proprietor of the Melbourne publications "Punch" and the "Bulletin". McKinley, a Malvern Councillor for 33 years, donated the clock for the Malvern Town Hall in 1891. He was Shire President when Malvern was declared a Borough and then a Town in 1901 and Mayor when Malvern became a City in 1911. He was also the Member of Toorak in the Legislative Assembly. A large crowd gathered in the garden and on the verandah of "Yallambee", the home of Alex McKinley, in Tooronga Road East Malvern. Several people are holding tennis racquets. Two maids are watching from the upstairs balcony. The house now has a frontage to Central Park Road. The house was built for Alex McKinley c. 1886.
