  • Biographical information (from 'Queenslanders who fought in the Great War'): SCOTT, James. Gunner, No. 21100, 108th Howitzer Battery. Born and educated in Glasgow, Scotland. The son of Thomas and Margaret Scott, of Alderley, Queensland. Enlisted 21st December, 1915, and entered camp at Enoggera January 4th, 1916. Embarked at Sydney on May 11th with the 9th Artillery Brigade per S.S. "Argyllshire�. Disembarked at Plymouth in July, 1916, and completed training at Lark Hill. Left for France about the end of December, 1916, and went into action with the 108th Battery at Messines in May, 1917. After that he was at Ypres, and was wounded at Passchendaele on the 18th October, 1917. Was 3 weeks in Base Hospital in France, and then transferred to Colchester Military Hospital, England. After leaving hospital, was attached to various depots in England. Was serving on Staff at Horseferry Road when Armistice was signed. Embarked for Australia in February, 1919, per S.S. "Lancashire�, arriving in Brisbane 4th April. Was discharged on May 19th, 1919.
