  • On top of the score 'The shop on fire' in the right hand corner is John Emanuel's signature.
  • Inscription on top of 'By the sad sea waves' : 'Presented to J. Lucas[?] by Mrs A. Emanuel ki... her kinderling[?]'.
  • TThis volume possibly belonged to Jacob (John) Emanuel who was a dentist in Sydney. His brother Abraham Emanuel was a piano teacher in Sydney in the early 1840s. Abraham's wife's name appears on the top of one of the scores: Mrs A. Emanuel. There are a large number of parts for a male singer in this volume. Abraham Emanuel was in partnership with the Sydney music publisher and seller, W.J. Johnson in the 1850s.
  • 'The daughter of Israel' has 'Miss Levy Berrima' in the top right hand corner.
