Summary
  • Portrait of Astley Brian Buxton. Uncle or cousin of Kathleen Fitzpatrick. Inscription: Written on verso: Dear Johnny, I thought you might like a picture of the uncle you (?) called after - ASTLEY BRIAN BUXTON. This must have been taken about the time he left school. Soon after he went to World War I. Having a horror of violence, he volunteered for the Army Medical Corps and served as a stretcher bearer, both at Gallipoli and in France - but it was his elder brother Jack, who was at the Anzac landing. Ack (as he was always called) was always rather delicate and died in his forties. He was both gay & gentle & everyone loved him. KEF Previous Control Number: BWP/30724
