https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/230112264 - this pic appeared in the Sydney Sun on 13th June, 1932...it was evidently taken at the Premier's Office in Sydney earlier that day at a meeting of United Australia Party heavies, following the UAP's win at the NSW election, held on the Saturday (11th June)...

Standing (L-R): Fred Kneeshaw (UAP organiser)...Tom Bavin (UAP MLA, NSW Premier 1927-30)...Jack Playfair (UAP MLC, UAP organiser)...H.W. Horsfield (UAP secretary)...

Sitting (L-R): Sydney Snow (UAP organiser)...Bert Stevens (UAP MLA, Premier)...Sam Walder (Sydney Lord Mayor, UAP organiser)...Herbert Hawkins (UAP MLC, UAP organiser) *...

The 1932 NSW election was called following the dismissal of Labor Party Premier Jack Lang on 13th May by NSW Governor Sir Philip Game, and the subsequent appointment of the Stevens caretaker government...the UAP's win at the election held an extra significance in that it was seen to vindicate and legitimise Lang's dismissal...and it also enabled the Stevens Government to move on from any lingering opprobrium that they'd gained power thru a coup d'etat...

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/16863461 - SMH, 16th May, 1932...same place...mostly the same group...pic taken on Saturday 14th May, the day after Lang's dismissal...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* for the sake of simplicity I've used the term 'UAP organiser'...their actual positions within the UAP organisation were changing at this point...and they continued to change in the following years...

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/16898614 - SMH 15th July, 1932...this item gives details re their various positions following the first meeting of the constituted UAP council held in Sydney on 13th July...Stevens (president)...Playfair, Bavin (vice-presidents)...Snow (chairman UAP council)...Hawkins, Walder, Kneeshaw (UAP councillors)...
