The bed was occupied by myself, my
husband, two children one aged 4
and one aged 2 years and the deceased.
Deceased was born o June 26.
1915 . I gave the baby A drink about
2 o'clock, it was lying on my arm
next the wall. I gave the baby another drink
about 7 am and then went to sleep again. At 8 am I noticed
that the baby was dead. It was then in the same position as when I gave it a drink.
I told my husband the baby was dead and he went for
my mother, I cannot account for the death of the child unless I got it too close to me and smothered it
I did not hear any noise or hear it cry out.

Mary Ann Amelia Harding, mother
of the.deceased, sworn said - I am
tlie wife of George James Harding
and reside at Linda. The deceased,
Ivan Lyell Harding is my son. I
remember Friday, the 13th inst., the
child was then in its usual health and
spirits. I retired to bed about 2
a:m. on the morning of the 14th inst..

CORONER'S INQUEST
An inquest touching circumstances
of the death of the infant son
of George Jams Harding was held
before Coronert Mr C.H Stitz, on
Saturday afternoon last, at the Linda Police Station.
Sergeant Tomkinson conducted the
enquiry on behalf of the police.
Dr. Joseph Love. legally qualified
medical practitioner, at Queenstown,
sworn, said A 9.5 am. I received a
telephone message from Mr Harding
that his child was dead. At 2 p.m.
I made a post mortem examination of
the body. The body was that of a well
nourished infant male child of
