DWELLING ABLAZE
GOOD WORK BY FIREMAN
SMYTHESDALE, Monday
A fire broke out on Monday in a house
Occupied by Mr T. Heard and family. It
was caused by a lamp dropping while be-
ing carried from one room to another.
The place was soon ablaze, and Mrs Heard,
with the assistance of a neighbour and the
Fire Brigade members of which were
quickly on the scene, did their utmost
to confine the outbreak to the rear port-
ion of the premises. They were success
full and the save was a very good one,
only the back of the house being damaged
Mr. Heard has not been in the best
health lately, and the shock upset him
a little.
