    John Palmer Williamson enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 9 February 1916 (Service No. 10030). He was a sapper with the 9th Field Company Engineers until the 5 August 1917 when he returned to England.

    During his time with the 9th Field Company Engineers he left for England on the Transport A31 Ajana on the 9th February 1916. The AIF disembarked on the 31 August 1916 at Plymouth. The unit then went to Camp Larkhill, Sailsbury Plains, England, for intensive training before going to France. On the 22 November 1916 they once again embarked but this time it was from South Hampton for France. During his time with the 9th Field Company Engineers John Palmer Williamson experience the Battle of Messines. He returned to England from France on the 5 August 1917 transferring to the Australian Flying Corps.

    The largest shareholders in the company were George London from Sailors’ Gully with 1885 shares, John Basset from Sailors’ Gully with 1654 shares, Robert Murdoch from Sandhurst with 1553 shares and William Cook who also the Mine Manager also from Sailors’ Gully with 1430 shares.

    The company was wound up in 1869.

    Isabella MUNRO nee JENNINGS was born 26 Dec 1837 in Maharashta, Bombay, India and christened on 14 Jan 1838.(1) Isabella died at the 1939 in Fitzroy, Victoria, Australia.(2) Her father George JENNINGS was a Gunner Artillery and her mother was Catherine JACOB.(3) She married Andrew MUNRO in St. Andrew Church, Bombay, India.(4) Andrew was born between 1826 and 1829(5) in Falkirk, Stirlingshire, Scotland the son of James Alexander MUNRO.(6)
    The first 8 children were born in India(7) with one child dying of measles(8) before leaving to come to Australia the last 3 were born in Australia.(9)
    Isabella’s mother is thought to have died when Isabella was a small child however this has not been verified.
