PASSING OF MRS.
BARTHOLOMAEUS
The death at Cockburn on May 2 of
known and respected residents. De-
ceased was the wife of Mr. Charles Henry
Bartholomaeus. of Pine Creek Station, a
well known pastoralist and pioneer of
the Mules operation on sheep.
The death was painfully sudden and
and grown up family: At a service in
the Methodist Church on May 2, Mrs.
Bartholomaeus was playing the organ
when she suddenly collapsed and passed
away in a matter of minutes.
The late Mrs. Bartholomneus was of
musical, artistic and religious tempera-
ment and very popular with all creeds
and classes of people. To show how sud-
den was the collapse, it may be men-
tioned that only the night before her
death on behalf of herself and hus-
band she had communicated by phone
with Mr. P. Lord with an Invitation to
be at Pine Creek Station for an evening.
The families are old friends.
Mr. and the late Mrs. Bartholomaeus
Had been very many years in the Cock-
burn district the homestead being on the
South Australian side of the Border. Mr.
Batholomaeus' brother, Mr.' Andrew
Bartholomaeus, was for many years the
Broken Hill manager for Elder.Smith and
same firm.
The funeral took place in Adelaide on
May 4, the interment being In the Brlgh-
ton Cemetery.
