SUBURBAN GOUNCUlI. SHIRE OF HEIDELBERG. WDEnasDAr. 9Ts Dscsruae. Present--The President (Cr. Bond), and Crs. Smith, Adams, Davey and Scotland. The President paid a tribute to the memory of the late Councillor Studley. who had been connected with the Council from its infancy. He moved that a letter of condolence be addressed to the widow and family of the deceased. Cr. P. W. Smith in seconding the motion spoke in flattering terms of their late member. The motion was carried unanimously, and the Secretary instructed to take steps to fill the vacancy. SaNUAL MEETING. ` The annual statement and balance sheet was° laid 'on the table, approved of and adopted A letter from the Auditors spoke in flattering terms of the manner in which the accounts had been presented to them. GENERAL MEETING. - Thm-'minutes of the previous meeting and the outward correspondence were read and confirmed. COBRESPONDENCE. From the borough of Northcote asking this: Council to join in constructing Westgarth-street, a portion of which is in the Heidelberg Shire. The Secretary to ask the borough Council what they proposed doing and what the probable cost would be., This Council had.already formed their portion of this streeat the Shire of WLtlefa relative to some unimprovements in Haley's-road. The Council agreed to share the expense. the work to be-carried out by the Whittlesea Shire. From Mr. Robt. Harper, M L.A., stating that he was pleased to say that tenders would be called for the Heidelberg railway in January. Received. From E. Xing,auctioneer,asking for some information respecting land at Ivanhoe. Secretary to write for further particulars. BOAD PROrK a GBENBOaOUtra TO ELTHAM.. Mr. F. Ellis, on behalf of the residents of Greensborough and Eltham, asked the Council to divert a portion of the road so as to avoid the steep rise at Duncan's hill. The cost would be about £200, which would include forming, fencing and draining. The residents had subscribed about £50 and now asked the Council's favorable consideration. Or. Scotland. the only Greensborough member present, said that for the present year their funds were exhausted, but the work should be included in next year's estimates. In the meantime the land might be secured with the money collected. The Surveyor was instructed to inspect and report. t IxeaECTORs. Constable Eason was appointed health inspector for his district at £10 a year, and it was resolved to offer Constable Cummings t the same remuneration for the south end Sof the shire.
