Star is rising

Robert newton's career is on the upswing. He has turned down many scripts he didn't like.

Now he's bought the stage and screen rights to the Glencannon stories of the late Guy Gil-patrick. He will star in a Broadway production based on them next season, to be produced by Oscar Ham-merstein's son Bill. Robert and wife Vera are in Hollywood until their baby is born. Then they leave for England, where Newton is to star, in a remake of Somerset Maugham's . The Beachcomber. He'll play the Charles Laughton part.
