TECHNICAL EDUCATION.

EXTENSION SCHEME IN HAND.

A deputation from the Waverley and Wool-lahra Municipal Councils, and residents of -the eastern suburbs, introduced by Colonel Onslow, M.L.A.,and Mr. David Storey.M.L.A., :

.waited upon Mr. Hogue (Minister for Education) yesterday, and asked for the establishment of a technical school in the eastern suburbs. It was pointed out that a site of two acres was already available at the corner ef Ebley and Newland ,streets, adjoining another Government site of an acre. The selection of the site, however, was left in the hands of the Minister. The deputation said there was a large population of 60,000 people In those suburbs, who were a considerable distance away from the Ultimo Technical College. The Minister, in his reply, said that the .Government recognised that technical in-, sfcraction was essential; but the needs of all the suburbs, as wel, as the country, would have to be considered in any scheme for the extension of technical education. Such a scheme was now under consideration.
