DEATH OF MRS. E. HYNES.

It will be learned with regret througbout the district that Mrs. Ed-ward Hynes died at 12.30 o clock on Saturday afternoon , at her resi-dence. Wattlegrove. Glenisla. The de-

ceased lady was born at Castle Bel-lingham County Louth, Ireland, 69 years ago, and came to Aastralia in 1861, landing at Geelong. Shortly afterwards she came to Hamilton, and was married to Mr. Hynes in April, 1866, by Father Farrelly, in the old wooden chapel. The couple llved at Flower Hill (now Hensleigh Park), near Cavendish, for 28 years, and in 1895 they removed to Wattle Grove, where the deceased lady re-sided up to the time of her death. Prior to Tuesday morning, when she was attacked with gastritis, she had never known, what , illness meant. On the symptoms developing, Dr. Fos-ter, of Horsham, was summoned, but his skill was unavailing to ar-rest the malady, which terminated fatally as already stated on Satur-day the Rev. Father M'Gowen ad-ministering the last rites of the church. Mrs. Hynes was a devout member of to Roman Catholic Church, and attended worship with her family at Glenisla most regular-ly. As recently as Sunday week she was in her accustomed place in the church, when she appeared to be in the strongest health. She was of a charitable and liberal disposition, and took an active part in promot-ing the welfare of the church of which she was such a faithful mem-ber. Her kindly nature had en-deared her to a large circle of friends, who will keenly feel her loss.

sons and three daughters, for whom sincere sympathy is ex-pressed. The funeral took place yes-terday afternoon at the Hamilton cemetery, the cortege comprising 30 buggies and a large number of horse-drawn carriages of the mourners having followed the hearse from Glenisla, The very Rev. Father Shanahan and Father M'Gowen conducted the fu-neral rites, and the mortuary arran-gements were carried out by Mr. Frank Greed.
