SURFER DROWNED

Bathing Outside Area SYDNEY, Monday.

Joseph Hampstead, 40, was drowned while surfing at Barrenjoey beach yes-terday. Hampstead and Christopher Wright were swimming a mile away from the patrolled area, when both got into difficulties. They were brought to the beach, but all efforts to restore animation in the case of Hampstead failed.
