To be in line with fashion this winter at least one hand-made woollen jumper must be included in every woman's wardrobe. With such a variety of wools and designs as are now obtainable, the most attractive of garments may be fashioned at small cost. Here is a chance for everyone to turn her skill in knitting and crochet to good account. The Courier-Mail offers prizes for the best

lady's jumper in hand knitting or crochet, or a combination

of both.

Here is a suggestion for a colour- scheme for a knitted jumper. The jumper itself was in pale grey, ornamental touches being provided

by bright blue and white.

HOW TO ENTER

Designs need not be original, but in judging (he finished articles consideration will be given to the suitability and attractiveness of the selected design, as well as to colour com-binations, while the technical points will be awarded for the evenness and texture of the work, and general finish of the gar-

ment.

(1) Entries, for which no fee is charged, must reach the Courier-Mail Office during closing week', that is from May

20 to 26.

(2) Entries should be addressed to The Women's Department, Courier-Mail, Queen Street, Brisbane.

(3) Articles may be pressed, bat must not be washed or

cleaned.

(4) A piece of calico or tape, bearing the name and address of sender, in block letters, must be sewn firmly to each article submitted.

(5) Designs may be either original or taken from a pattern, but each article must be the work of the competitor.

(6) All entries received will be handled with the greatest care, but no responsibility can be accepted for articles lost, mis-laid or damaged before or after delivery.

(7) If exhibits are to be returned by post, sufficient stamps must be sent for their return. Insufficiently stamped entries will not be accepted.

(8 A receipt will be issued to each competitor on acceptance of the exhibit, and must be produced when application is made for the return of the article.

(9) The decision of the judges will be final, and results will be announced as soon as possible after the closing of the contest.

The Courier-Mail reserves the right to publish and exhibit photographs of the prize winning entries.
