A committee of five was appointed by the Gunbower Progress Association on Wednesday night to continue: negotiations with the State Electricity Commission for the extension of- Commission power to Gunbower.

The committee was empowered to examine relevant issues regarding the extension and to institute ainy necessary action lor the commencement of the

scheme.

Cr H. Brown, of the Cohuna fjhire Council, and chairman of a committee appointed to investigate the practibility of extending the SEC power attended the

meeting.

During discussion, he outlined a number of proposals which would ibe used to expedite and hasten the connection of Gunbower to the SBC main.

Tlie estimated £25,000 loan needed to bring the main supply fiom Pyramid Hill to iLeitchville was filled before the meeting

concluded.

The total cost of the extention is believed- to be £50,000 which will be financed on a 1 for 1 basis with the State Govern

ment.

. Once the main supply line has been established, the district will be zoned into groups by the SEC and branch extensions will, be made through the groups.

The extensions will (be made under the Commission's selfhelp scheme, and landholders' will contribute a £400 loan for each extension. The loans will be for a five-year term, and during that period, the landholders will pay no accounts. The balance of their money at the end of the five-year period, together with interest, will then be repaid.

The main supply line will come within two miles of Leitcli' ville, and the first grou.p which will be around Leitchville, is expected to be connected within IS months.

The Association will endeavor to get Gui$ower in the group two priority so that the supply of power to the town proper would be completed in approxinv ately two years.
