Conference Next Month

CANBERRA, Tuesday. - The Prime Minister (Mr. Lyons) announced to-day that the Prime Minister of New Zealand (Mr. Forbes) and another New Zealand Minister would leave New Zealand on October 30 to visit Australia for a conference with the Federal Ministry. Among subjects which would be discussed would be plans for abolishing the embargoes which each country had imposed on primary products of the other.

There will probably be a further discussion of the distribution of shipping freights in the Pacific with the object of protect-ing Australian shipping from unfair competition by American ships, and an effort will be made to procure closer co-opera-tion in defence, including an agreement by which munitions and small arms required by New Zealand will be manufactured in the munitions works of Australia.
