SHELLHARBOR. (FROM CORRESPONDENT OF MERCURY.) The Municipal Council met on Saturday last. Present,—Councillors M'Gill, Russell, Moles, Mar-tin, James, and Collins. Minutes of previous meeting were read and con-firmed. A communication was read from the Central Illa-warra Municipal Council, upon the subject of the respective boundaries of the Central Illawarra and Shellharbor Municipalities. Amendment—Moved by Councillor James, se-conded by Councillor Martin, "That no action be taken by this Council in the matter of clearing the road through the respective farms of Messrs.Timbs and Barrs to the Oak Flats, until a petition be received from them and other residents in that locality." Councillor Graham's resolution was carried. Moved by Councillor James, seconded by Coun-cillor Russell,—"That Councillors Graham, Wilson, and Martin be empowered to employ labor for the purpose of repairing portions of the hill known as Widow Collins'."—Carried. The Finance Committe's report was adopted, recommending the payment to Patrick Cregan of the £5 10s. for work done upon the Stony Creek Road. The Council to meet on Saturday, September 27th. FIRE.—The dwelling house of Mr. Frederick Barrs, Terry's Meadows, was totally destroyed by fire early on Tuesday morning last. The furniture was entirely destroyed. Nothing but two small boxes and some bedding was saved. OBITUARY.—On Thursday morning last died Mrs. Seymour, wife of Mr. James Seymour, of Terragong Swamp, after a very brief illness, the nature of which seems not to be exactly known; supposed, however, to be intestinal inflammation. This dis-tressing event was quite unexpected, Mrs. Seymour previous to her fatal illness, having enjoyed robust health. A husband and ten children have thus to deplore the loss of a mother of most affectionate and exemplary character. On Friday the deceased was buried in the Roman Catholic burial ground, Shellharbor. WEATHER.—Rain is much needed in this portion of the district ; the crops are languishing ; grass very scarce ; and the cattle suffering much for want of water and grass. September 15th.
