  3. THE LATE SIR ALFRED LANGLER.

    Governing director of the West Australian Newspaper Co., he was principal trustee of the Hackett estate. By careful management he was able to pay off all the other legatees and to inform the residuary legatees—the University and the Church of England—in 1926 that the residuary estate comprised "The West Australian" and "The Western Mail." On his recommendation the newspapers were sold. One result of the sale is the Hackett Memorial Buildings and S. George's College at the University. ... [ILLUSTRATED]
