SUCCESSFUL GRAZIER HAD
LIFErLONG ASSOCIATION
WITH DISTRICT
UNTIMELY END OF MB.-JOSEPH
LAMBKINS
The late Mr. Joseph Lambkins,
who was found dead in a hut at
: "Benledi," Westbrook, early on
Monday, had a life-long associa-
tion with this district, and his
activities as a grazier were mark
ed with outstanding success.
The late Mr. Lambkins, who was
the son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Lambkins, residents of the
Singleton district for many years,
was 66 years of .age. '
The body of deceased was found
early on Monday morning by Mr. R.
J. Graham, of "Spottiswood," West
brook.
Mx 1 . Graham made his discovery in
a hut on the "Benledi," property,
which had at one time been owned
by the deceased.
The late Mr;'. Lambkins shifted to
the hut only on October 8, after he
had sold his "Aytondale" property,
Bridgman.
He had owned "Aytondale" for
about 25 years.
He had run this property in con
junction with "Benledi," but he sold
"Benledi" some time ago, as he found
it impossible to carry on both proper
ties although they were not far apart.
Deceased's success on the land was
acquired by the breeding and fatten
ing of cattle, and by virtue of his as
sociation with the cattle industry, he
became particularly well-known
throughout the district.
He decided a short time ago to
enter retirement, and this was why
he sold "Aytondale."
He had come to an arrangement
with the owners for him to. occupy a
hut on the property which had Leen
the first he owned.
The late Mr. Lambkins was last
seen alive by Mr. Clarrie Ritter,_who
dropped him near the Ritter farm at
about 12.30 p.m. last Friday, after
bringing him to town.
It is not known when deceased met
?his .death, but he was dead some
time when the body was discovered
in the "Benledi" hut.
A member of a family of 10, de
ceased is survived by three brothers
and four'sisters.
A brother and a sister predeceased
him. ?
"" 'Surviving brothers are Messrs.
Arthur John (Belmont), Ernest
(Sedgefleld) and Harold (Bridgman
Road). ~
The surviving sisters are Mesdames
W. Clayworth (Wauchope), E. J. Mc-
Nulty (Combo, Singleton), J. Hedge
(Maerannie) and D. Edwards (Gos
ford).
Deceased never married.
The remains were interred in the
Church of England cemetery at
Sedgefleld during yesterday morning.
