INDIAN FAMINE RELIEF
FUND.
The Fanners' and Settlers' Association
have received the following acknowledgment
from the Government of India:—"To the
Manager of the Farmers' and Settlers' Cooperative
Association, Limited, Syduey.
Simla, 13th October, 1900 Department of
Revenue and Agriculture. Sir, — I am
directed to acknowledge 'he receipt of your
letter, No. 2570. dated the 4 h September,
1900, to His Excellency the Yioeroy, in
which you state that 1300 saoks of 'Wheat,
contributed by the Farmers' and Seltien'
Association, Limited, of Sydney^! to v the
Indian Famine Charitable Relief Fund, liave
been forwarded in the Peninsular and Oriental
Company's steamers India, Peninsular,
and Australia, and that the sale proceeds of
700 more saoks of wheat will be remitted tor
distribution in the famine traote. In reply,
I am direo'.ed to inform you that the Executive
Committee of the Fund have been asked
to reoeive and dispose of the consignment,
and I am to request that the acknowledgments
of the Government of India may be
conveyed to the donors for tleir kind and
sympathetic gift. I have, eto.,
