The appearance of the first rail transport in Australia in the 1850s was so significant that many composers celebrated it with music. Rail transport directly influenced the course of Australian music history when Isaac Nathan, often described as Australia's first composer, died of injuries sustained while alighting from a horse-drawn tram!
