    Public

Australia is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. Transplanted musicians from a huge range of countries and backgrounds have contributed to the very rich menu of musics and musical fusions of all kinds. Australian composers, performers, and scholars actively engage with the musical traditions and innovations of our neighbours in Asia and the Pacific as well as those from Europe.

Whilst the western art and popular traditions dominate the European music brought to Australia, a wide range of other European musical expressions have also been transplanted. These are becoming increasingly accessible to a wider audience.

Explore the kaleidoscope of European musics here.
