Bells seem to be everywhere: chiming clocks in civic buildings, clanging schoolyard bells, tolling church bells, carillons, even the esoteric art of handbell ringing. The English method of "change-ringing" on peals of bells began in Australia in 1809, when bells that arrived with Governor John Hunter in 1795 were hung in St Philip's Church, Sydney.

Discover the impact of bells on Australian life and music.
