The guitar is everywhere! It has formed the basis of many styles of music: rock, punk, country, folk, jazz, classical. Many Australian guitarists have become famous for their signature styles and sounds. In all their forms, guitars are widely regarded as one of the most accessible instruments.

The banjo reached Australia in blackface minstrel shows in the 1850s. It became an important rhythmic backbone to jazz playing in the last century, and has become a prominent ingredient in bush bands since the 1950s.

Strum right in to the guitar and banjo theme!
