    Tag pick list

    I thank the designers of Trove for the ability to pick an existing Tag from a short list, based on the initial letter.

    However, it seems that the list is limited to four items. This is frustrating - I have a tag "Alexandra Shire Council" which I have been using recently, which is quite long to type, but which does not appear on the pick list. Other tags starting with "Alexandra" seem to fill it up in alphabetical order, the last one being "Alexandra Road Board".

    Would it be possible to extend the list?

    It also seems that once the initial list is chosen by the system, that as you type extra characters no-matching members are deleted, but no new members are added. Reducing a list of four in this way is of little value. Of greater value would be to replace tags in the list as the match improves.

    Since writing this, I discovered that the pick list is not limited to four entries - I just saw five.
    Now I am even more confused as to how Trove selects list items.

    How does the Pick List for Tags work? Doesn't seem to now.

    There is a Pick List when using Search and Advance Search, which works fine, but you do not seem be able to delete using [DEL] key a Pick item that is no longer needed.

    Pick Lists are a good idea, but not all "text boxes" have them, nor have a DELete function to remove a particular item from the list.

    * Username. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Has Pick List. No DELete function.
    * Search . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Has Pick List. No DELete
    * Advance Search . . . . . . . . . . Has Pick List. No DELete.
    * [______] ^ \/ [Highlight All] ... NO Pick list. No DELete.
    * List . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ??
    * Tags Display Option . . . . . . . . ??
    * Contact Us . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Remebers last strings.
    * Are there any others?

    I am no expert on this, but I think you will find that this autocomplete drop-down feature is actually a function of your browser. How it behaves will probably depend on which browser you are using, so has little to do with Trove.

    Looking at the "autocomplete drop-down" (Pick List) feature when "Contacting Us", there appear to be two types:
    * Fixed Pick List" probably offered by Trove, including:
    * * User Type (about 6 types)
    * * Country (about 190 countries)
    * * etc.
    * User Defined Pick List, probably offered by browser (Firefox) including
    * * Email address
    * * Post Code
    * * etc.
    * * Browser Firefox does not seem to allow you to [DEL]ete unwanted members of the pick list.

    Looking up the Firefox browser help system, it turns out that the ability to DELete an item on a User Defined PickList depends on how you access it:
    * Using mouse, with the item highlighted in GREY, the DELete key does NOT work.
    * Using the up and down cursor keys, with the item highlighted in DARK BLUE, the DELete key DOES work.
    Apparently this has been changed in a recent upgrade.

    Thanks Speath.
