    Well spotted!

    It feels a bit like a historical icon was being re-written, so to speak. But presumably it was all in the interests of newspaper art.

    The change of the direction of the soldiers makes sense re. the "Home at last" theme. But why change the dress? Maybe it was just an easier way to re-do the artwork.

    The cover art was reproduced on a subsequent anniversary cover, with Yvonne Webb's poem included in the Editorial.
    The blue and white dress is a beautiful juxtaposition to the khaki of the soldier's uniform.
