Summary
  • The biotechnology industry stands at the threshold of a new era of growth. Long hobbled by excessive regulation of its genetically engineered products, the industry stands to benefit from a more favorable attitude from regulators regarding new products. This, in turn, is sparking of a financing boom in the financial markets. However, public distrust of the industry remains high. It is suggested therefore that the industry refrain from criticizing lengthy regulatory procedures since the failure to place itself under intense scrutiny may lead to a serious loss of public trust.
