Summary
  • Microsoft Excel 5.0 users can use the Macro Recorder and Visual Basic to automate some of the functions of Excel and make using the program easier. Users often have to make manual corrections to Excel programs after exporting information from one source to another. The first step is for the users to write down what they want to accomplish with the code, which will make translating the steps to Visual Basic easier. Then, using the Module from Macro in the Insert menu of Excel's Workbook, the user should create a space for the Visual Basic code and using a Function procedure, create the code from the written steps. After the function has been entered, it can be tested on a WorkSheet and will appear in the user-defined functions section of the wizard. Users can then automate this function by defining the range and region within Excel that they want the new function to work.
