Summary
  • Gareth Jones was appointed as the head of human resources at the BBC in Nov 1999, before which he was at the Henley Management College. Jones only went to the BBC because he wanted to work with the chief executive, Greg Dyke. He agrees with Dyke that people will have to be made redundant and that change and creativity are key parts of running the BBC effectively. He also realises that the BBC is very resistant to change. Attracting new talented people, improving staff morale and ensuring that management decisions are innovative are priorities.
