Summary
  • Research by Parentline Plus suggests that many parents are being assaulted by their teenage children. One quarter of single mothers is likely to be hit by their teenager as a result of witnessing domestic violence and 80% of violent teenagers will have been hit themselves. A lack of communication is blamed for causing problems which then result in violence. Most families find it very hard to admit they are having these problems. The way to resolve it is for parents to be more understanding, less critical and to offer more praise.
