The Roman Empire's richest citizens are relaxing in their villas, while the tourists spend their money in Herculaneum and Pompeii. The giant aqueduct which brings water to a quarter of a million people is in need of repair, to the north of Pompeii, on the slopes of Vesuvius. But as the engineer heads towards Vesuvius he is about to discover forces beyond anyone's power.
