Notes
  • This paper examines the interaction of various factors in a patient's decision to switch practices and patient removals by GPs. Practice quality attributes, together with the form of competition, socioeconomic variables and patients' characteristics are modeled as aecting patient's choice andremoval from practice. I use data on patients' registrations with general practitioners and practice characteristics over a two-year period from a British Health Authority. The model explains practice attractiveness and predict whether a patient will leave a doctor. Distance from practice together with individual's and socioeconomic characteristics account for creamskimming irrespective of practice purchasing type.
  • Patient movements. Patient's choice. Quality. General practice.
