Summary
  • One of a series of seven films which look at Iran and India as they were two thousand years ago. In North India, there is the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri, founded in 1569 by Akbar to be the capital of the Mogul Empire. The deserted city is a masterpiece of Moslem architecture, the city is unique in India as a nearly intact Mogul city. Another famous building which is fully described is the Taj Mahal, a mausoleum built by order of the Mogul Emperor Shah Jehan after the death of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal in 1629. It is deemed one of the most beautiful buildings in the world and the finest example of the late style of Indian Moslem architecture.
