Summary
  • Recent developments in microcomputer hardware and software require that older microcomputer configurations used currently in law office be upgraded to become current. The minimum hardware requirements for office systems are 640Kbytes of RAM and a hard disk drive; ways to upgrade less powerful microcomputer configurations are described. Components that may be enhanced include the power supply and the memory; devices that can be added to upgrade the systems include multifunction boards, hard disk cards, clock-calendar boards, and 3.5-inch floppy disks in place of 5.25-inch drives. Instructions on how to replace the motherboard of an IBM PC XT or compatible with an AT-style motherboard and a discussion of other ways to upgrade XTs to the AT class are provided.
