Summary
Tandy introduced four new microcomputers and a low-cost laser printer for low-cost desktop publishing. Two of the computers, the 1000 HX and the 1000 TX, are designed for instructional use in schools. New features of the machines include a ROM-resident operating system and 3.5-inch disk drives, with 5.25-inch drives available as an option. The Tandy 1000 HX is a 256K micro listed at $699. The Tandy 1000 TX is a 640K micro with five internal expansion slots, parallel and serial ports for $1199. The Tandy 1400 LT is an MS-DOS laptop computer. The Tandy 4000 is an 80386-based micro compatible with IBM's new OS-2 operating system. The LP-1000 is a six-page per minute laser printer with 1.5 megabytes of memory with two standard and two downloadable type fonts for $2199.
