  • Jerry C. Straus earned his B.A. degree from Columbia University in 1958 and his LL.B. from Columbia University Law School in 1961. After graduating from law school, he was selected for the Attorney General--s Honors Program at the Department of Justice, and served two years in the Appellate Section of the Department--s Civil Division before joining the firm of Wilkinson, Cragun &​ Barker in 1963. He acted as an attorney for the Shoshone Indians. With Charles Hobbs and Bobo Dean, he co-founded the firm Hobbs, Straus, Dean and Walker in 1982. Contains a collection of transcripts from the Indian Claims Commission from the 19th and 20th centuries, concerning mainly the Shosone Indians; appraisals of land and mineral resources; exhibit material; selection of books and maps; reel- to- reel tapes; case petitions and pleadings and legislative history.
