Scale has long been studied among the various fields and sub- fields within the discipline of geography. While geographers are inherently focused on the integrated processes and systems that comprise the physical and social environment, to date, however, geographic research on scale has remained relatively isolated within disciplinary sub-fields. This paper investigates research on scale among five essential research foci in geography, which are: data and processes; MAUP; conceptualization of scale; comp utational solutions; and integration. The thrust of this paper is twofold: 1) to examine the way in which scale is studied among the five research domains; and 2) to help clarify and resolve scalar issues by bridging research domains.
