Two key aspects of family functioning, namely, cohesion and adaptability, are assessed to investigate father-child and parental interactions in relation to family functioning in the contact father-child family. Results show that the quality of father-child interactions predict cohesion in such families but not adaptability, and quality of parental interaction does not predict cohesion or adaptability, thus highlighting the importance of identifying attitudes that prevent contact parents from fulfilling their parental roles.
