Action movie script? No just a biography of Dave Everett.

Shadow Warrior
Reading this book it is hard to believe that you aren't reading the script to a new high action Hollywood blockbuster. However all this action stems simply from the life story of one boy who starts as a country loving Tasmanian running amok in the bush and at school before setting his eyes on the army at the ripe young age of 15 only to become a hardened soldier in the Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) and eventually fighting for the Karen and their freedom against an oppressive regime. However David was never met in Australia with any praise or positive recognition of his achievements, instead he was thrown in to prison and put before court. He life then takes a massive change of direction and Everett becomes priority one on Australia's most wanted.
I loved this book from cover to cover. The book is written extremely well with Everett conveying all his raw emotions and thoughts as he tackled the ridiculously hard SAS training course and the high adrenaline life he was living afterwards. Like the jolly swagman from Waltzing Matilda, Everett is a icon Australian history and a man you grow to love and respect through the book despite some of his 'criminal' activities.
This is a great book for the blokes and anyone else interested in a important part of Australian history. Everett evokes some deep discussion regarding values and attitudes displayed in Australia and around the world, a real eye opener into international affairs. Some may be turned off if they have no knowledge of the Army and how it works however Everett does a great job at describing everything in layman terms and for blokes like me who have served it's really fascinating stuff. Being in the army I've read a few books with army content in them over the last year or two and I can say this is with out a doubt the best.
Have a read and let me know what you think.
Cheers,
Sam Chesterfield-Evans.
