Notes
  • Sets out the main challenges facing management in the area of ethics and compliance. Discusses competitive pressures, producing goods and services responsibly, and building and keeping a good reputation. Business challenges are best met by the use of a code of ethics which involves both top-down and bottom-up. In this regard employees must be supported by senior management in raising their concerns about important issues with a view to their publication in the company's statement of accounts. Thus concludes that obedience, as a general mantra, is not the sole requirement of companies by Government - accordingly, it is preferable to encourage an individual code of ethics per company in pursuit of the goal of rigid self-examination.
