Notes
  • The Wayne Owens Papers (1972-1991) mainly comprise correspondence to and from constituents and source material on the two committees on which he served while Utah's U. S. Representative from 1972 to 1974. These two committees were the United States House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary and the Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs. Documents regarding Owen's participation in the Impeachment Inquiry Committee consist of evidence summaries, staff reports, testimonies, proceedings, transcripts of taped conversations, articles of impeachment, and other documents regarding the impeachment of Richard M. Nixon. Also present are some personal records, including "Diary of A Candidate" (an account of Owens' walking campaign for congressman), material on a film project "The New Congressman" (with which Owens was involved), personal schedules, mailing lists, campaign items, speeches, and statements. Legislation Owens sponsored or co-sponsored in the Ninety-Third Congress is documented in bills, resolutions, joint resolutions, and concurrent resolutions. The collection also holds material regarding Senator Frank E. Moss of Utah, a Democrat who served in Congress the same time as Owens, and contains documents regarding the vice presidential nominations of Gerald R. Ford and Nelson Rockefeller. Schedules and appointment books are also included in the collection.; Boxes 1-80 were donated in 1975 (33 lin. ft.). Boxes 81-82 were donated around 1993 (1 lin. ft.).; Biographical Sketch; I.
