Summary
Mon Oncle continued Tati's satirisation of modern living. It is a transitional work between M. Hulot's Holiday and his masterpiece Playtime. The figure of Hulot, here bemused by an array of gadgets in a modernistic suburban home, is still at the centre but less so than in earlier films. By Playtime, Hulot is only one among many in a film composed almost entirely in long shot tableaux.
