Summary
This enormous, multi volume publication was an attempt with words, maps and pictures to describe Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific as it was then. It was one of the most significant cultural projects in 19th century Australia, with writers, artists, academics and politicians coming together on the content, and a publishing company established to publish it.
