  • A Utah correspondent reports on important events in the Mormon Church in the year 1896. He gives a report on the population of Mormons in Utah and nationwide. The three most significant events in the Church include the issuing of a manifesto requiring Mormons to obtain permission before running for office, the dismissal of Moses Thatcher from his station as apostle, and the departure of the largest number of missionaries in Mormon history.
