A physical description of Ann Eliza Webb Young and a record of her account of how her marriage to Brigham Young came about. Brigham, having “watched [her] from [her] infancy,” asked her father if he could marry her, and her father agreed. Though reluctant, she agreed to the marriage to disentangle her brother from financial difficulties with Brigham. After the marriage ceremony, Brigham gradually saw less and less of her and was “of the meanest character” when it came to providing for her.
