  • The Republican reports that Colonels Johnston and Cook have arrived at Fort Bridger. The grass has been burnt and the animals are dying; the Mormons are fortifying all the passages to Salt Lake City. Jesse Jones, after being blindfolded by the Mormons to prevent him from learning their movements, has been released to Colonel Johnston. The Mormons have not been attacking the troops.
