A summary of the rise of Mormonism and particularly of the roles Joseph Smith, Oliver Cowdery, and Martin Harris played in its foundation. The article tells a number of stories, taken from a variety of newspapers, about the Mormons. A young man received a letter from heaven; a colored man jumped twenty-five feet without injury; a Mrs. Conkling in Bradford, Pennsylvania, spoke in tongues; and about fifteen people have left Boston to join with the Mormons. The Mormon practice of having “all things [in] common” is described.
